Adapting to the New Normal

Dear Friends and Visitors,

We have some new updates on our safety measures and wish to keep you informed in case you wish to visit our home.

We can now welcome a small group of benefactors in the dining room to serve foods to kids during the lunch or dinner they sponsor. However, they will still wear face masks, wash their hands often, and keep a good distance from little diners.

Other guests can visit our home for 30 minutes. Tours of our compound can be pre-arranged depending on the size of each group. Group photos with children from preschool age and older are possible while wearing face masks and without close contacts or giving children a hug or kiss.

Over the past months, our own staffers and older kids have been screened every 10 days and very few of them were found to be infected by COVID-19, also none of them has had serious symptoms. We have also fully been vaccinated. We require each of the staffers who is on leave for three days and longer to have an antigen test upon returning to work.

These measures are effective from 1st of April 2023 onward, until further notice.

Thank you kindly for your understanding and continued support to our children and their well-being.. May every one of you be blessed with good health and happiness..

Pattaya Orphanage

April 2023

Activities

Saturated on Wan Lai 2024

Children from toddler’s age and older, including disabled persons, along with staff members of the Pattaya orphanage joined in the splashes of Pattaya’s Wan Lai 2024, marking the end of Songkran Festival in the area.. This year, some of the former residents showed up to pay respect to our elder, esp. Khun Suwanna Cheownawin, who is one of our current board members.. It was a great fun for all even though the toddlers only played at our reception.. Thanks and best wishes to all the supporters for the water pistols, food and beverage at both lunch and dinner, and the organization..

Happy Family Day 2024

For the year 2024, which marks the 50th anniversary of the Pattaya Orphanage, our Family Day celebration was held a bit earlier but still during the Thai New Year or Songkran Festival. The blessing ritual began with the procession with our Lady Songkran and the traditional pedestal decorated with symbolic thread for binding the wrists of the blessed, joined by all members from toddler’s age and older, moving from the main inner road close to the front gate to the ceremonial site. The Lady Songkran offered to Fr. Michael Weera Phangrak and Fr. Francis Xavier Kritsada Sukkaphat, who presided over the observance, with floral hand garlands. Our girls in primary and secondary school levels performed the northern dance for the blessing of all concerned. They also led the pouring of water with petals on to palms of elders and special guests and received blessings in return. The two priests gave blessings in return at the end of the ceremony. In the afternoon, children enjoyed outdoor refreshments in between their fun play with water pistols to cool down from this year’s extreme summer heat. Thanks to all concerned for the organization of and participation in the memorable event..

Group Activities

School-age kids at the Pattaya Orphanage make use of their free time during the long vacation, partly with the review of important academic subjects, and mostly with group recreational activities. They produced creative items, including greeting cards, played tower games, and harvested the vegetables in the garden, which were cooked for all members of our home.. Thanks to the teachers and all concerned..

Easter 2024

Easter Seasons in Thailand are always in summertime and the long school break. This year, it is extremely warm but children at the Pattaya Orphanage can enjoy some activities, supported by an anonymous family. Numerous candies were sent to fill our plastic egg shells and several crafts for children’s participation leading up to Sunday. Preschool kids colored sets of wooden egg shape crafts for decorations and paper baskets for the collection of eggs during their hunt. Then the older kids helped the preschoolers look for the hidden Easter eggs in our backyard and playground. They all forgot the heat while looking for their treasures. Thanks to all concerned for the fun and outdoor game.. Happy Easter to our benefactors and all concerned..

The Pattaya Orphanage, led by Fr. Michael Weera Phangrak and his deputy Fr. Francis Xavier Kritsada Sukkaphat, welcomed back seven adoptive families from Europe for a special visit, marking our 50th anniversary.. It’s wonderful to see the beautiful growth of young Ingfah, Dara, Tingli, Phet, Ben and Sammy from Germany, and Atom from Switzerland. On this occasion, Miss Suwanna Cheownawin, our former Child Welfare Director who was the match-makers for most of the families, could join the event with great joy. Thanks to all the families for being with us and bringing along clothing as well as donations to support our daily care for children and disabled persons.. Enjoy your Easter holiday and safe trip home..

Long School Break 2024

engaged in different activities organized by their group teachers.. To make the most of their free time with fun, children take part in art and creative productions, plant vegetables in the garden, visit the beach, and review certain lessons.. Their community life has also been strengthened.. Thanks to all concerned..

Makha Bucha Day 2024

All the preschool children of the Pattaya Orphanage offered alms to monks at Wat Nong Ao Buddhist Temple in Central Pattaya to mark the upcoming Makha Bucha Day 2024. They dressed in Thai costume and were accompanied by their teachers, caregivers, seniors, and volunteer, as they made merit and received blessings from the sprinkles of holy water from the abbot..

Blessing of Kindergarten

Following the major renovation of the 2-storey preschool building, young occupants and caregivers have returned to use their beautiful and spacious bedrooms, classrooms, and multi-purpose area. Since the project has been completed, the building fully equipped and ready for use in the year the Pattaya Orphanage celebrates our 50th anniversary, Rev. Fr. Francis Xavier blessed the building with the presence of children from toddler’s age and older, as well as our staffers and our Deaf School teachers. Our special guest was Khun Didier Moly of Les Amis de l’Orphelinat de Pattaya while on his annual visit to Thailand and honored us by cutting the ribbon at the official opening of the kindergarten. At the end, the preschool kids proudly presented a dance with song accompaniment for all participants. We are very grateful to our supporters, both individuals and organizations/business companies, for monetary and material contributions. Thanks to all, including our contractor Veerasin Tharasin of VS-Tech Co., Ltd. who charged nothing for himself but tried to save cost, wisely use the available resources, and ensure building users enjoy the practicality.. May each and every one of you be blessed in abundance..
