50 Years Of Care for Orphans Lives and Future

Activities

Loy Krathong 2024

Sotpattana School for the Deaf organized the Loy Krathong Day activity, to mark the Thai Festival of Lights on the full moon night in November, with the aim to conserve one of the most significant cultural and traditional celebrations of Thailand.. Students learned to produce krathongs or floats from different buoyant materials, flowers, a candle and incense sticks. Then they dressed up in Thai costumes of various eras, joined by children of the Pattaya Orphanage to dance and let their floats go in a pool..

Sotpattana School for the Deaf organized the meeting of executive board members for the second semester of 2024 at the School’s meeting room.

Executive Board Meeting

Members of the Pattaya Orphanage’s Executive Board met once annually, this time at the meeting room of the administrative office for the review of projects and operation for 2024. They also discussed the plan and preparations for the upcoming 50th anniversary celebration on 14th March 2025..

Reflection on Social Dimension of Life

On the occasion of our 50th anniversary, the Pattaya Orphanage organized a “Reflection on Social Dimension of Life” Project with the recent presentation of reflection issues to priests of the Diocese of Chanthaburi, and this time during a special gathering of representatives of Catholic schools, administered by religious congregations, laity, and the diocese. Seventy-six participants were administrators, teachers, and student leaders from 19 schools.  They studied with us and gained an understanding of the proposed topics and points for reflections. Any concrete ways of dissemination of the insights will be left up to each school. Thanks to all concerned, esp. Rev. Joseph Chalerm Kitmongkol, former member of our Executive Board, who joined our team of resource persons..

Remembering Beloved Departed

Representatives of the Pattaya Orphanage joined the blessing of the cemetery of St. Nikolaus Church Pattaya at the 2024 annual ceremony, and remembered our beloved departed in a special way today. May Fr. Raymond A. Brennan CSsR, former residents, and the relatives of our staff personnel rest in eternal peace..

Fire Drill at 5-Storey Building

The Pattaya Orphanage, by the Maintenance Department, organized a training and fire drill for new staff members with both theory and field practice on the use of fire extinguishers as well as the emergency procedures in case of fire within our compound. During a simulation of a fire incident in the 4th floor of our 5-storey building, the team also raised awareness and promoted safety measures among the dwellers and users of the building, including children with special needs at Sotpattana School for the Deaf, who joined the exercise twice. Other personnel of the orphanage helped ensure safety during the practice, esp. the use of the fire escape and along the route to the Assembly Point. Thanks to all concerned for the support and continued attentiveness in helping make our home and compound safe.

Souvenirs

During the mid-year break, school-aged kids at the Pattaya Orphanage spent some of their free time usefully and practiced their concentration by creating handmade souvenirs from small towels in the shapes of rabbits and jam rolls as gifts and remembrances for benefactors on the occasion of our 50th anniversary..

Promoting Self-Esteem

The 23 school children and young adults in colleges and universities joined a program on self-esteem and self-awareness introduced by Khun Pink Chutikan Inthim and her team before school resumption for the second study term. Thanks and best wishes to our resource persons.
